Treatments:
Manual Therapy (these are “hands-on” procedures)
- There are a variety of manual techniques to reduce pain and stiffness, such as joint range of motion, mobilization, and joint manipulation if indicated.
- Soft tissue mobilization includes myofascial release, cross-friction massage, trigger point work, nerve flossing/gliding, etc.
Neuromuscular re-education
- Specific exercises to help improve joint stability, motor control, coordination, balance, sport-specific skill development, etc.
Therapeutic activity
- Specific training movements that relate to basic functional activities, including positioning for sleep, sitting or standing, etc.
- Walking, stair climbing, jogging, jumping, running, cycling, rock climbing, etc.
- Posture and body mechanics training for lifting or getting up and down out of a chair or sport-specific activities to prepare to return to sport.
